Check 1: Ask for an equipment list, not adjectives
“Advanced equipment, guaranteed quality” means nothing. Ask for models and quantities — how many offset presses, how many rotary lines, is there UV, is there a cutting plotter. Then ask for a short clip of a machine running; it beats ten promises.
Check 2: Where does the finishing happen?
Labels live or die on slitting, rewinding, die-cutting and inspection; boxes on die-cutting and gluing. If the supplier cannot explain these clearly, the job is probably being passed on.
Check 3: Test with one small order
Do not start with a big run. Send a few thousand labels or a few hundred boxes and watch four things: how fast the quote returns, whether the sample matches, whether the delivery date holds, and how the packing and shipment details are handled.
Check 4: Verify the hard facts
- Full company name and unified social credit code — checkable in China’s national credit information system
- ICP filing number and public-security filing number on the website
- Who issues the contract and the invoice (a group with two entities should tell you which one you are contracting with)
Check 5: Visit, or a live video walk-through
The most direct check is a visit. If you are not in China, ask for a live video call walking through the workshop — live, not pre-recorded — or photos of the most recent shipment.
